Bennington Building officially opened in tribute of former employee who transformed lives
A newly named school building honouring the life and legacy of Katie Bennington has been officially opened, marking a poignant milestone for our school community.
Katie, who was described as a “real-life angel” following her death last year, played a pivotal role in supporting children and families through her work at the school, and her fundraising efforts. She helped raise more than £150,000 to improve opportunities for pupils.
The Bennington Building, named in her memory, was formally opened today by Katie’s husband David, alongside her mum Ros, and sister Lucy. The ceremony brought together family members, staff and supporters to celebrate her lasting impact and dedication.
A few words were shared by James Ellis, Director of SEND Education for the Trust, who has known Katie since she first started at the school. He reflected on her enduring legacy, her unwavering commitment to pupils and families, and the profound difference she made to the school community.
The building stands as a permanent tribute to Katie’s compassion, determination and tireless work to enhance the lives of others.
The Bennington Building will now serve pupils and families for years to come, ensuring that Katie’s influence remains at the heart of the school’s work.
