IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL PARENTS AND CARERS

Due to the continued extreme temperatures expected over the next few days, we have had to make the difficult decision to partially close some classrooms across our two sites.

At Newton East Site, all classes apart from Dahl Class will be closed on Thursday 25th June (and potentially Friday 26th June, but this will be reviewed and confirmed tomorrow). Dahl Class can remain open as we have access to air conditioning in this classroom.

At Newton West Site, Pullman and Zephaniah Classes (our two Post 16 classes) will also be closed as their classrooms are currently exceeding safe temperature levels.

All other classes at Newton West Site will remain open, as these rooms have air conditioning, or we have managed to relocate some classes into cooler spaces.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and understand how challenging short-notice closures can be. We hope you can understand that your child’s safety must come first.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide an update regarding Friday as soon as possible.

We have notified the relevant transport providers, however if your child is in one of the classes that will be closed and your transport turns up, please do not send them to school.

Furthermore, if your child is at school tomorrow and we feel that they are struggling due to the heat, please be prepared to come and collect them if needed. We have made adjustments to the school day to minimise exposure and to keep pupils as cool as possible, but some are understandably struggling with this.

We recognise our responsibility to provide some form of education whilst your child is at home, so your child's class teacher will be in touch with you tomorrow morning to discuss how we can best support this.
